Background of the Study
In many educational institutions, the process of paying school fees has traditionally been conducted using manual methods, which often lead to inefficiencies, mismanagement, and the risk of fraud. For secondary schools in Bida Local Government Area, Niger State, this issue has resulted in delays, confusion, and security concerns regarding the handling of student payments. With the increasing reliance on technology and the growth of online services, it has become essential to implement a secure online payment system that allows students and parents to pay school fees easily, efficiently, and safely.
The introduction of a secure online payment system will allow secondary schools in Bida to automate the payment process, reduce administrative costs, and provide a more transparent, secure method of collecting fees. This system can support various payment methods, including debit/credit cards, bank transfers, and mobile payment options. The aim of this study is to assess the implementation of an online payment system for school fees and examine its impact on the school’s financial management and student satisfaction.
Statement of the Problem
The traditional manual payment methods used by secondary schools in Bida Local Government Area, Niger State, are prone to delays, human errors, and security breaches, which negatively impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the fee collection process. Despite the growing use of digital payment systems in other sectors, schools in the area have not yet adopted such technology, leading to missed opportunities for enhanced financial management and improved service delivery.
